My all time favourite drive-in memory is of Hugo Weaving in Proof, holding up the condoms to the couple in the next car making-out… Does it count as my memory, if I wasn’t actually there?

Hey Christian, I agree, I had a similar painting in my bedroom when I was kid. The black horse is really in distress. What the hell are they are running from… or toward?!

I have to say that it’s stunning how much this looks like America in the 70’s! I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and if I hadn’t seen the Australian flag, I wouldn’t have known. :-)

Actually I’m alway amazed at how much pictures of Australia look so much like California of long gone. This coming from someone who has never been there though.

Hi Galen, I like that you think it looks like 70’s America. I and some of the visual look of Puberty Blues has been been influenced by early pioneers of colour photography in the U.S. Especially Stephen Shores early work. Who I’m inspired by daily. Not just his approach to colour, but the ‘way he sees the world’. What he chooses to photograph. THanks!
