One fo my favourites too Kriv. Wim Wenders best. Perhaps his only truly great film…? I think about Paris Texas a lot. Definitely opened my eyes to a very different kind of cinema when I saw it when I was 18 or so.
I was going to post the ‘ending’. I think it;s perhaps my favourite ‘end’ to a film! I’ll save that for another post ; )
Agree that’s it’s the one of the best endings ever written or filmed. And even more ironic that they came up with it while they were still shooting. I loved how they started shooting without a full script. Sam Shephard apparently phoned in that monologue the night beofre they shot it. Beautiful how Wenders just allowed and trusted the process to evolve. Such a rare and impossible thing these days. You gotta check out the Criterion edition – Great interviews and full of pieces of rich PT ephemera.
